With the wildfires continuing to rip through Los Angeles and Hollywood, reports revealed that at least five people have perished from the fires. At the same time, over 2000 structures ended up destroyed by the flames. Hoping to fight the fire, Governor Gavin Newsome ordered 1,4000 firefighters to the area. Other states like Oregon, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and even Washington sent resources to help the area. As videos continue to surface, numerous events, including a concert from rapper Rod Wave ended up canceled as authorities try to contain the fire and keep residents safe.

Posting new coverage of the fires on his Instagram Stories, Waves announced, “Concert tonight cancelled by Gov. officials.” The rapper added, “I hope everyone stays safe.” With over 100,000 people displaced from the fires, residents watched in horror as the flames destroyed their homes and lives.
Scheduled to perform at the Intuit Dome in California, the venue released a statement about the cancellation, writing, “The health and safety of our fans and employees will remain top priority.” The arena added, “Tickets will be refunded at the original point of purchase.”

Rod Wave Concert Not The Only Event Canceled
With the fires taking over headlines, even President Joe Biden paused his schedule to address the ongoing problem. Canceling his trip to Italy, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “After returning this evening from Los Angeles, where earlier today he had met with police, fire and emergency personnel fighting the historic fires raging in the area and approved a Major Disaster declaration for California, President Biden made the decision to cancel his upcoming trip to Italy to remain focused on directing the full federal response in the days ahead.”
While ending his time in the White House, President Biden looked to travel to Italy to speak with officials like Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and even Pope Francis. He hoped at the time to “discuss efforts to advance peace around the world, including Pope Francis’ work to alleviate suffering for vulnerable communities.”
Although residents continue to flee the area, President Biden promised the government was ready “To do anything and everything as long as it takes to contain these fires and help reconstruct, make sure we get to normal.”
Besides Wave’s concert canceled, other events canceled included a Wicked sing-along event, the taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and even the matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames.
