The Artist: PF Sloan
The Song: “Working” from the album My Beethoven, his first in eight years.
Fun Fact: During the 1960s, Sloan had a successful songwriter career, writing Top 20 hits for Barry McGuire, The Searchers, Herman’s Hermits, The Turtles, Johnny Rivers and The Mamas & The Papas.
Songwriter Says: “While reading Beethoven’s diaries, and letters that he sent to friends, one particular line grabbed my heart. He wrote in his diary day after day after day, “A strange woman knocked at my door and told me she liked the melody I was working on. The public likes to believe that we are adored and fawned over as songwriters; the truth is most of us hardly ever get that. I realized how huge an impact that little taste of love given to him, meant to him as he was and I was, working in a bubble with little or no appreciation.”
