The Song: “If The Poor Don’t Matter,” off his forthcoming record Redemption Road, out March 10 via Pax Records

Songwriter Says“There was an article recently in The Washington Post revealing that a majority of the wealthy feel that the poor ‘have it easy.’ I’m sure that a quick poll of the poor huddled under an interstate overpass would heartily agree that, yes, things could hardly be going more smoothly for them. Now that they’ve gotten over the urge to eat and find some warmth, hell, things could hardly be going better. My own very private religious views tell me that I’m to do whatever I can. This is just a start.”
