Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench will open for Winwood on September 20 in Vienna, Virginia, at The Filene Center at Wolf Trap. Tench is touring this year in support of his recently released second solo album, The Melancholy Season.

Tickets for Winwood’s newly announced headlining shows will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 21. Presale tickets will be available to venue members starting Wednesday, March 19, at 10 a.m. ET.

Prior to his September concerts, Winwood will perform at a sold-out show on July 13 in Hyde Park in London. The event, which is part of the 2025 BST Hyde Park concert series London, will be headlined by Jeff Lynne’s ELO and is that band’s farewell show. Also on the bill are The Doobie Brothers and Dhani Harrison.

Winwood last performed in West Valley City, Utah, in August 2024, when he wrapped up a series of shows opening for The Doobie Brothers.

More About Winwood

Winwood was just 14 years old when he co-founded The Spencer Davis Group in 1963. Winwood co-wrote, sang lead, and played organ on the band’s classic hits “Gimme Some Lovin’” and “I’m a Man.”

Steve left The Spencer Davis Group in 1967 to form Traffic, and he became one of the main creative forces in that band.

In 1969, Traffic was temporarily put on hold when Winwood teamed up with Eric Clapton in the short-lived supergroup Blind Faith.

Traffic was relaunched in 1970, and Winwood played with the band until its 1974 breakup. Steve then began what became a very successful solo career.

Among Winwood’s best-known solo hits are “While You See a Chance,” “Valerie,” “Back in the High Life Again,” “The Finer Things,” and the Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers “Higher Love” and “Roll with It.”

Winwood was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic in 2004. His most recent solo studio album, Nine Lives, was released in 2008.
