Stevie Nicks Is Back and She’s “Not Pulling Any Punches”: Music Legend Talks Creating New Album, “The Ghost Record,” During California Wildfires

While always remembered for her time with Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks showcased her musical talents outside of the famous band when she released several hit solo albums. Her last, 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, released back in 2014. Although over a decade has passed since Nicks stepped into the recording studio to explore new music, the singer recently announced she was working on a new album while being inducted into the Pollstar Hall of Fame.

Taking the stage to receive the honor, Nicks shocked those in attendance when she announced she was working on a new album. “ I’m actually making a record right now. I call it the ghost record because it just kind of happened in the last couple weeks.” While still in the early stages, the singer promised, “I have seven songs, and they are autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life. They’re not airy fairy songs where you’re wondering who they’re about but you don’t really get it. They’re real stories of memories of mine of fantastic men.”

How The California Wildfires Helped Inspire Stevie Nicks New Album

With Nicks having more than enough time to record over the previous years, the hitmaker explained how the wildfires in California helped energize her. “Because of the fires [the Californian wildfires] I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days, and at some point during that last part of the 92 days I said, ‘You know what? I feel like I’m on the road but there’s no shows.’ I’m just sitting here by myself because everybody else is at the house doing all the remediations and everything and it’s just me sitting here and I thought, ‘you need to go back to work.’”

Accepting her spot in the Pollstar Hall of Fame alongside Barrie Marshall and Louis Messina, Nicks was thrilled to be honored for her contributions to the music industry. But not ready to leave the spotlight just yet, it seemed that the singer had a few more stories to tell. And with Nicks willing to shine a light on the real stories of her life on and off the stage, the new album is sure to be a hit among fans.

Looking online, fans already prepared themselves for new music. “Unbelievable how she is still the most charismatic person in the world. Too happy that she does not take vacations – although I worry- I’m glad we always have more and more of Stevie Nicks.”
