Swifties Turn Their Collective Anger Toward Morgan Wallen, The Weeknd for Allegedly Copying Taylor Swift

Over the years, Taylor Swift has cultivated one of the most devoted fanbases in music history. The KISS Army and Juggalos don’t hold a candle to the devotion that Swifties show to their chosen artist. As a result, many Swifties spend their time on the internet defending Swift from “haters” and calling out other artists who they believe copied her. Most recently they’ve set their sights on The Weeknd and Morgan Wallen.

The Weeknd and Wallen came under fire from Swift’s fans because they claimed both artists were copying the megastar. First, Wallen announced his new album I’m the Problem along with a tour of the same name. They claim that he stole the phrase “I’m the Problem” from T-Swift’s 2022 hit “Anti-Hero.”

One tweet summed up the group’s problem with the “Sand in My Boots” singer. “It’s so odd that Wallen names a tour after a MEGA HIT by Taylor Swift (Anti-hero). ‘It’s me. Hi, I’M THE PROBLEM. It’s me.’ It won every award on earth for a song and video. Lazy, lazy Wallen,” one angry Swiftie posted.

The Swifties Turn Their Ire on The Weeknd

Last week, The Weeknd announced that his new album Hurry Up Tomorrow would be released as a double album. This brought Swifites out of the woodwork with not-so-subtle insinuations that the “After Hours” singer stole Swift’s idea.

“The way everyone’s following in Taylor’s footsteps so I expect Taylor’s numbers,” one tweeted in connection to Hurry Up Tomorrow.

“Taylor Swift is the blueprint,” another posted. “Oh Taylor, trendsetter that you are,” another Swiftie said.

“I know people don’t want to admit it but seriously Taylor’s impact in the industry should be studied,” another opined.

Swift released a double album last year. First, she released The Tortured Poets Department. Then, hours later, she released 16 extra tracks on The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. It seems that the Swifties who commented on The Weeknd’s forthcoming release don’t have a solid grasp on music history.

Double albums have been around for a long time. Bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Clash, and many more have released double LPs in the past. Additionally, Bob Dylan’s iconic Blonde on Blonde is a double album.

Interestingly, Morgan Wallen released Dangerous: The Double Album in January 2021. That album dropped more than three years before the extended edition of The Tortured Poets Department. So, by the logic above, it would seem more likely that Swift copied Wallen’s idea for a double album. However, that just sounds absurd, doesn’t it?
