T. Hardy Morris will release his next album, Artificial Tears, tomorrow (August 8). The album’s tracks are Morris’ honest reflections on his two decades in the music world. The album’s latest single, “Don’t Kill Your Time (To Shine),” is a piece of hard-won advice forged from his years of experience. American Songwriter is proud to premiere the song’s official live acoustic video today.

Artificial Tears is a smart follow-up to Morris’ 2021 album, The Digital Age of Rome. The previous release saw the singer-songwriter delve deeply into sadness and despair. This time around, the Georgia native is a little more optimistic. The 12-track collection contains reflections on the highs and lows of his life and career. As a result, the tracklist is not devoid of sad songs. However, it also packs songs that border on the inspirational. “Don’t Kill Your Time (To Shine)” is an example of the latter.

T. Hardy Morris on “Don’t Kill Your Time (To Shine)”
Last month, T. Hardy Morris sat down with Magnet Magazine to talk about what was, at the time, his latest single. “This is a song directed at young artists, young lovers, former selves,” he explained. “Don’t waste your time worrying what others think and definitely don’t kill your time by giving up,” he added.
“Rock and roll is a young person’s game, and that’s what I love about it. I love discovering young artists and especially hearing what they’re creating as they’re discovering themselves,” Morris told the publication. “That’s the best music to me.”
