Nominations for the 37th annual American Music Awards were announced yesterday, pitting teen sales juggernaut Taylor Swift against the late, great Michael Jackson. Taylor received six nods, and Jackson received five. Both are contenders for the ceremony’s Artist of the Year prize. American Music Award winners are voted by the public online. Nominations are determined by a combination of retail sales and radio airplay.

Will Taylor’s fairy tale year continue? The show will air on ABC on November 22 from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California. We’ll find out then.
