Every couple of months, it appeared that some fan got scammed out of thousands due to believing they were talking to their favorite singer or celebrity. With the surge of social media, scammers have found creative ways to get money from people. And one of the best is pretending to be famous and asking for money. That is exactly what happened when a woman named Desiree supposedly started dating Wallen

Landing on the reality show Catfish, Desiree soon learned that her boyfriend was just a scammer. But the damage was already done as she sent him more than just gift cards. She also sent crucial information like bank accounts and her social security number. In the end, Desiree went into $18,000 worth of debt for her love.

Although learning the truth, Desiree noted how she loved the attention Wallen gave to her. “I needed validation at the time, and I think I got it from this person. And it was a male, and I needed it from a male who was respecting me. I was grateful, and I was offered a job and all these things such as being a girlfriend, which is what was initially proposed to me.”
