The Pink Stones’ sound blends highlights of multiple bygone eras of country music. Threads of bands like The Flying Burrito Brothers and Poco come together with bluegrass and psychedelic rock embellishments to create a sonic tapestry that feels at the same time familiar and fresh. The lead single from their next record, “If I Can’t Win (With You),” encapsulates why so many critics and fans loved their last full-length.

The band’s frontman, Hunter Pinkston, spoke to American Songwriter about the new track ahead of today’s release. “One night, I was hanging out with some of my best buds, and we played Kings in the Corner. This sparked an obsession with online solitaire for me. The rest is history,” he recalled. Pinkston also revealed that some of the song’s lyrics are true-to-life. “I also do have a white couch. I was sitting on it and drinking boxed red wine when I wrote this tune,” he revealed.
The prominent steel guitar in “If I Can’t Win (With You)” comes courtesy of the newest member of the Pink Stones, Caleb Boese. Libby Weitnauer (Margo Price, Kelsey Waldon) provided the strings and fiddle for the new tune.
