Video Premiere: Mandolin Orange, “Cavalry”

Gil and Dave-inspired acoustic duo Mandolin Orange stopped by the AS office recently, and wowed us with their tight harmonies and even tighter song craft. We’ll have footage of their performance for you soon. In the mean time, check out the brand new video for “Cavalry,” which draws inspiration from one of the towering achievements in geekdom — The Lord Of The Rings. The song hails from their third LP, This Side Of Jordan, out next month.

“Cavalry was written after watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy — one of many times watching these,” admits Mandolin Orange’s Andrew Marlin. “I got to thinking about how the horses would ride fearlessly into battle, right into these monstrous creatures, with nothing to gain from doing so. This song is told from the perspective of a horse who is tired of fighting.”
