If you have been recently scrolling through Instagram or TikTok you have surely come across the sharp-tongued singer/songwriter, Jesse Welles. Thanks to his politically potent songs “War Isn’t Murder,” “United Health,” and “Walmart,” Welles has acquired a mass following on both platforms. Now, his mass following can follow him elsewhere, as the man just announced his new album, Middle.

Set to release on February 21, Welles’ new album is produced by Eddie Spear, who has produced Americana stars such as Sierra Ferrell and Zach Bryan. Welles, who certainly falls into the same genre, also released the first song from the album on January 31. The released single titled “Horses” is “a pro-love song,” per the press release. Regarding the song, Welles also stated in the press release, “Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to atrocities. You build up walls. If you love everyone, it’s a lot easier on you—and everybody else too.”
Jesse Welles Will Carry on The Lyrical Torch
If one is familiar with Jesse Welles and his music, you know it demands a keen ear and attentive headspace. Given his lyrical knack, Welles has been compared to Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Woodie Guthrie. That being so, it seems Welles will carry on the lyrical torch as his album aims to do far more than just entertain.
Jesse Welles stated in his press release, “If my music helps you believe you can make art, and that you should make art, there would be nothing better.” “Get those paints out…[and] fill up that journal,” added Welles. As of now, Welles currently has a million followers on Instagram and 1.2 million on TikTok. Impressively, there have not been any gimmicks or ornate showmanship behind his mass appeal. Rather, he has acquired his mass following by being unapologetically himself and speaking his mind.
Jesse Welles has made an enormous splash in the world of Americana music, and he seemingly will continue to do so with his upcoming album. Additionally, Welles has also sold out his 25-date Fear Is The Mind Killer tour which kicks off days before his album’s release on February 15. Keep your ear to the ground, because Jesse Welles’ Americana presence is inevitable.
