Chris Stapleton is certainly a jack of all trades. He can seemingly cover any artist, song, or genre of music without even breaking a sweat. He’s proved that fact countless times and primarily did so before his solo career with the bands The Steeldrivers and The Jompson Brothers. However, Chris Stapleton showed he could do it once again by giving the world an exemplary cover of the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic, “Free Bird,” a couple of years back.

The Folks Go Crazy for Chris Stapleton’s “Free Bird”
The resurfaced video was posted by the @hillbillytalk Instagram page five weeks ago. Even though the post has been up for five weeks, fans are still raving over Stapleton’s cover. Some fans are saying he does it better than Lynyrd Skynyrd, and others are saying that he needs to put a version of the song on Apple Music. In all, the majority of users who have viewed the post have praised Stapleton’s ability in the song.
Two users on the post commented, “Dude could sing the ingredients of pop-tarts and it would still sound awesome” and “He can sing just about anything and make it sound better than the original.” Two other users positively added, “Is it possible to be in love with him just for his voice? Asking for a friend” and “Saw him do this live, it’s so stupid he can do that without any effort.”
As you can see, Chris Stapleton knocked this one out of the park. Given the resounding reception of this song, you would think Stapleton would add this to his set list for every show. However, the guy isn’t a one-trick pony and has a lot of other talents to show off. So, if you’re going to a Chris Stapleton show anytime soon, all you can do is dream for this cover.
