Watch Dua Lipa Cover AC/DC’s Hit Song “Highway to Hell” at Melbourne Concert

While releasing her album Future Nostalgia back in 2020, Dua Lipa took a break from the recording studio as she helmed her Future Nostalgia tour and even appeared in the hit film Barbie. But just last year, she returned with another hit album, Radical Optimism. Yet again, she decided to hit the road with another tour. Quickly expanding her career, Lipa wanted to celebrate the bands and artists who came before her. And when taking the stage in Australia, Lipa honored the legendary AC/DC with a cover of the hit song “Highway to Hell.”

Going overseas with her tour, Lipa touched down in Australia with countless fans excited to see her perform. But instead of picking songs from her own discography, she told the crowd she wanted to celebrate local artists at each stop of her tour. And when looking at Australia’s contributions to music, it’s hard to pass up AC/DC. Formed in Sydney during the 1970s, AC/DC helped usher in a new era of British heavy metal bands. 

With the arena packed with fans, Lipa didn’t skip a beat when covering “Highway to Hell.” Even with the song carrying such a strong legacy in the music industry, the singer completely rocked out on stage. Looking at what fans had to say, comments included, “I am not surprised, not in the least, that Dua is covering a classic rock song. She continues to skyrocket in my estimation. Also, what a setting! The show has received a serious upgrade since last year. You keep blowing audiences away. Keep up the good work!”

Dua Lipa Thankful For The Freedom She Has To Create

While Lipa continues to navigate her career in the music industry, the singer revealed how she needed to create a new list of dreams as she continues to make them come true. Speaking with Billboard in December, she insisted, “There came a point in the year where I was thinking, ‘I’ve got to sit down and write some new dreams and new plans and other things I wanted to do.’ I feel like I ticked so many of my boxes this year. It’s amazing.”  

Currently on the road to support her recent album, Lipa praised the success of Future Nostalgia for giving her the power to explore a different side of herself. “Future Nostalgia doing what it did allowed me to grow as an artist, to push boundaries and change. It allowed me to have the confidence to make Radical Optimism. It gave me the freedom and confidence to be like, ‘You know who I really want to make an album with? Kevin Parker. And I want to do something a bit different; I want to work with Danny L Harle and experiment with my sound, do a different vocal performance and make pop music but allow that to live in another sonic world.’”

With Lipa refusing to stay in only one genre, the singer’s future remained a mystery. But given her success over the last few years, she’s quickly becoming a top star.
