Clapton’s backing band for tour will feature bassist Nathan East, keyboardist Chris Stainton, guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, keyboardist Tim Carmon, drummer Edward “Sonny” Emory III, and backup singers Sharon White and Katie Kissoon.

The September concerts will be Clapton’s first U.S. shows since he played three gigs in California in October 2024. Those performances took place just after the 79-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer released his latest studio album, Meanwhile.

More About the Meanwhile Album

Meanwhile, Clapton’s 22nd solo studio effort, was released via digital formats on October 4, 2024. Vinyl and CD versions of the album were issued on January 24, 2025.

The 14-track collection features six new songs and eight singles Eric had released previously in recent years.

Among the previously released songs on the album are three politically charged tunes Clapton recorded in collaboration with his friend Van Morrison—“Pompous Fool,” “The Rebels,” and “Stand and Deliver.”

Meanwhile also includes a cover of the classic ballad “Moon River” that features late guitar legend Jeff Beck. That track originally was released in May 2023 as a tribute to Beck, who passed away in January of that year.

Another previously released tune featured on the album is a cover of the country ballad “Always on My Mind,” a collaboration with veteran country/bluegrass singer Bradley Walker. Eric released the song in September 2023 as a 90th birthday tribute to Willie Nelson. Nelson had a chart-topping country hit with the tune in 1982.

Clapton’s Other 2025 Tour Plans

Clapton will kick off his 2025 tour itinerary with an eight-date residency at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo this April. Those shows at the famed Japan venue are scheduled from April 14 through April 27.

That engagement will be followed by a series of late-spring concerts in the U.K. and mainland Europe. It will run from a May 18 concert in Nottingham, U.K., through a June 2 performance in Nice, France. The European trek will include a three-night stand at the Royal Albert Hall in London, scheduled for May 21, 23, and 24.
