Country music doesn’t necessarily associate with astounding success on the Billboard 200. This is primarily due to the fact that most people listen to pop music and not country music. Although, given that country and pop music have started to blend together by the day, there have been several country albums to break the mold and peak at no. 1 on the chart.

The most recent country albums to peak at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 are most notably F-1 Trillion by Post Malone and Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé. However, country albums were peaking at no. 1 on the chart far before these artists, and here are three of the records that did so.
‘Ropin’ The Wind‘ by Garth Brooks
Ropin’ The Wind is certainly a country album with one of the most successful chart runs of all time. Released in 1991, Garth Brooks‘ album peaked at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 and remained there for an impressive 18 weeks,
Up to that point in the history of country music, an album had not been as successful on the chart. So, Garth Brooks’ album marked a major milestone in not just country music, but in all of music. It remains one of Brooks’ most successful albums of his career.
‘Fearless’ by Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is currently on track to become just as big, if not bigger than The Beatles. Some might not know that the pop star once had a country album peak at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 during her country days. The album that garnered Swift this accolade was her 2008 fan-favorite country album, Fearless.
Upon its 2008 release, Swift’s album reached the top spot of the chart and remained there for a total of 11 weeks. Some of the more notable tracks on the album are her iconic singles, “Love Story”, “Fifteen”, and the title track, “Fearless”.
‘One Thing At A Time’ by Morgan Wallen
Morgan Wallen is arguably the man who put country music on the stage that it is currently on. One of the albums that helped him accomplish this feat was his 2023 record-breaking album, One Thing At A Time. Without this album, Morgan Wallen would undoubtedly still be successful, though maybe not to the degree in which he is now.
Following its 2023 release, One Thing At A Time peaked at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 and stayed at no. 1 for 19 consecutive weeks. This not only broke the record for a country album but for albums across all genres of music. Needless to say, Wallen’s record is one of the most successful country music albums of all time.
