3 Guilty Pleasure Two-Hit Wonders You Loved in the 2000s

When people talk about the 2000s, there is often a wistful bit of nostalgia in their eyes. We were so much simpler then, weren’t we? The internet hadn’t fully taken over our lives, we all watched cable TV, and the tumultuous 2020s seemed light years away. Ah, memories. But one thing that can help you travel back in time to the decade at the turn of the millennium is music.

And here below, we wanted to do just that. We wanted to explore three artists who were all over the television and radio airwaves some 20 years ago. A trio of acts that were famous and also a little bit of a guilty pleasure for many. Indeed, these are three guilty pleasure two-hit wonders you absolutely loved in the 2000s.

Dream

Who doesn’t love a good pop girl group? Well, maybe it’s not something you want blasting in the parking lot or when you’re driving though your neighborhood. But in your personal headphones or when dancing around your living room? Yes, please! Dream enjoyed major success in 2001 thanks to their LP It Was All a Dream. That album charted two songs, “He Loves U Not” and “This Is Me,” which hit No. 2 and No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. And while the group didn’t last all that long, sometimes that’s what happens with a dream. It’s here and then gone in a flash.

Sisqo

Released on his LP Unleash the Dragon, Sisqo’s “Thong Song” might just be the guiltiest pleasure of all time. A whole track dedicated to that little piece of underwear? Well, you had to be around in the 2000s to understand, but this track and those undergarments were everywhere in the decade. Spring break might as well have been built on the two pillars of flirtation. And Sisqo enjoyed the success of the track, which hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000. He also garnered a No. 1 hit the same year with his tune “Incomplete.” The bleach-blonde R&B singer and former Dru Hill frontman knew what he was doing!

KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall impressed fans with her live shows, ability to play a looper pedal, and hit songs like “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See,” which hit No. 20 and No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Released on her 2004 LP Eye to the Telescope, Tunstall was a rising star of the decade. But while she may not have kept such high peaks in her career, she is still a fan favorite for those who were on the bandwagon early. When an artist rises so high but then doesn’t follow it up, it can be a bit awkward to put their discs on blast. But that’s what true fans do!
