4 Bands That Made Classic Rock Cool Again in the 21st Century

Every decade has its “revival” moment. For the 2000s, it was garage rock. In the 2010s, it was post-punk. For the 2020s, it could be classic rock that sees a revival. And the following four bands might just be spearheading the classic rock revival movement of the 21st century. Let’s take a look!

1. Tyler Bryant And The Shakedown

Tyler Bryant And The Shakedown have earned a spot on this list for their blues rock stylings, as well as the fact that they’ve toured with some of the most legendary bands in classic rock history. AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Guns N’ Roses are just a few acts to give this outfit a chance, and we can see their appeal.

Fun fact: Graham Whitford, the band’s guitarist, is the son of Aerosmith legend Brad Whitford. Rock runs in the family, clearly.

2. Greta Van Fleet

Arguably the most well-known band on this list, Greta Van Fleet is definitely bringing classic rock into the 21st century. Though, this hard rock outfit is certainly polarizing. The band made it big back in 2017 with the single “Highway Tune”, and one can’t deny that they have that rough, delightful 1970s rock sound. Greta Van Fleet’s chemistry on stage is also nothing to sneeze at, and they really don’t make bands like this one anymore.

3. White Reaper

Rock isn’t totally nonexistent nowadays, but you rarely hear that fuzzy, punk sound from modern-day bands. White Reaper has that element, and they’ve kept it through numerous sound changes over the years. They don’t sound like a cheap classic rock imitation, either. If you’re a fan of the 1980s era of hard rock and power pop, White Reaper is the band to check out.

4. Joyous Wolf

Joyous Wolf has to be one of the most underrated classic rock bands of the 21st century. However, they still have some time to blow up at the mainstream level, and we wouldn’t be surprised if they blew up very soon. This Californian rock outfit is known for having intense on-stage energy and wild choreography reminiscent of the golden age of classic rock arena tours.
