1. “Macarena” by Los Del Rio

Even if you were a baby back in 1993, you’ve probably been raised on the dance moves showcased in the iconic music video for “Macarena” by Los Del Rio. No matter your background or geographical location, you more than likely hit the dance floor with your family to boogie to this early 1990s dance craze at a wedding, birthday party, or any other gathering.

“Macarena” catapulted to the top of the charts in 1993. It made it to no. 1 on the US Hot 100 chart as well. Sadly, the Spanish pop duo behind the legendary song never had another chart-topping hit again.

2. “What Is Love” by Haddaway

German singer Haddaway had some background in dance, so it only makes sense that he and his dancers would bust out a few iconic dance moves in the music video for one of the most memorable European dance one-hit wonders ever, “What Is Love”.

This is such a fun early 1990s song, but those dance moves are not exactly easy to nail. Despite topping the dance charts and making it to no. 11 on the Hot 100, Haddaway never had as big of an international hit again.

3. “Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats

Who doesn’t know the “Safety Dance”? The youngins’ may not know about this 1982 new wave hit from Men Without Hats, but virtually every Gen Xer out there could probably bust out a move or two from the song with ease.

This jam made it to no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it also did well internationally. Despite enjoying quite a bit of success in their native Canada, Men Without Hats never had another Top 10 hit on the US Hot 100 again.

4. “Ketchup Song” by Las Ketchup

These memorable Spanish one-hit wonders made waves in Latin America and elsewhere with those killer dance moves from the “Ketchup Song” music video. It only made it to no. 54 on the US Hot 100, but it topped the charts almost everywhere else in the world, especially in Europe. The band struggled to capitalize on the success of the song, and they didn’t hit the US charts again.

Fun fact: “Ketchup Song” isn’t actually about ketchup at all.
