7 Albums You Didn’t Know Feature Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks is a star. Best known as a co-vocalist in the legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac or as a successful solo artist, Nicks has shined brightly in any role. Even in the background, she has been dazzling.

Nicks has not only spent a career in the spotlight, but she has also played backup to her fellow stars. Here are seven albums you may not have known feature Stevie Nicks.

1. Nightwatch – Kenny Loggins

Kenny Loggins’ 1978 sophomore release, Nightwatch, featured Nicks’ vocals on the hit “Whenever I Call You Friend.” Their duet on this album is arguably one of ’70s soft rock’s greatest collaborations.

2. Not Shy – Walter Egan

Walter Egan’s debut, the 1977 released Fundamental Roll, and its follow-up, 1978 album Not Shy, were co-produced by Nick’s musical and romantic partner Lindsey Buckingham. Nicks, in turn, lent her vocals to the background of both albums.

3. Warren Zevon – Warren Zevon

Warren Zevon’s self-titled hit album also saw assistance from Nicks. Her vocals can be heard on the tracks, “Mohammed’s Radio” and “Join Me in L.A.” The album also featured Buckingham, Jackson Browne, Glenn Frey, Bonnie Raitt, and more stars in the mix.

4. Hard Promises – Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ album Hard Promises featured Nicks on backing vocals for the songs “Insider” and “You Can Still Change Your Mind.” Nicks and Tom Petty were a dream team, producing a number of collaborations from their musical friendship.

5. Back to the Bars – Todd Rundgren

On Todd Rundgren’s live album Back to the Bars, Nicks’ vocals can be heard on the Rundgren classic “Hello It’s Me.” Guests on the album include Rick Derringer, Daryl Hall, and John Oates, alongside Nicks.

6. C’mon C’mon – Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow’s 2002 release, C’mon C’mon, is riddled with stars with the voices of Liz Phair, Lenny Kravitz, and even Gwyneth Paltrow gracing some songs. Nicks’ vocal stylings, however, stand out among the bunch, appearing on the title track and “Diamond Road.” Nicks can also be heard on Crow’s 2019 album, Threads.

7. King of Hearts – Rick Vito

Rocker Rick Vito was a former Fleetwood Mac guitarist from 1987 to 1991. When Vito recorded his 1992 solo debut, King of Hearts, Nicks provided backing vocals to her former bandmate’s record.
