Blake Shelton Reveals His All-Time Favorite Gwen Stefani Songs—Including One He Didn’t Know Was a Cover

One benefit of marrying a musician is having a pair of receptive ears to listen, advise, and support your craft, which is what Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have found in each other since July 2021.

Shelton’s claim to fame has always been in country music, but Stefani’s career has had more genre crossover. Stefani is a co-founder of the ska punk band No Doubt and a prolific solo artist in pop and, more recently, country. Despite their varied musical backgrounds, the two artists have been able to find common sonic ground.

Blake Shelton Reveals His Favorite Songs By Gwen Stefani

During a late November 2024 appearance on Taste of Country Nights, Blake Shelton revealed his favorite Gwen Stefani tracks spanning her decades-long career. “There’s some good ones. I’m not just saying that,” the country star began. He started with “Hella Good,” a No Doubt track off their fifth studio album, Rock Steady, from 2001. “Every time I hear it, it’s like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Shelton’s next choices made it clear that he had an affinity for his wife’s first band. “She had a song called “Hey Baby,” he added. “That one still stands out.” This track is also from No Doubt’s 2001 album Rock Steady. Shelton dropped a solo Stefani track next, referencing “Cool” off the singer’s 2004 album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. “That’s underrated, by the way.”

The country star wrapped up his all-time favorite Stefani song list with “It’s My Life,” a No Doubt cover of English new wave band Talk Talk that the California ska-punk band included on their 2003 greatest hits album. Shelton and Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul revealed neither of them knew No Doubt’s version was a cover until much later. “I’m just trying to sound cool,” Shelton laughed. “I thought it was their song.”

The Ska-Turned-Pop Star Has A Few Favorites Of Her Own

Blake Shelton isn’t the only one in his marriage paying attention to the other’s music. Gwen Stefani has also taken the time to dive into her husband’s catalog, collecting a few favorites of her own. She revealed some of her top Shelton tracks during a 2019 interview with Andy Cohen, admitting that she still had a lot more of his discography to explore.

“He’s done so much music,” Stefani said. “There’s a song called “Mine Would Be You.” I love that. I was like, ‘God, that song’s so good. But there’s so many good ones. He’s written some amazing songs. He wrote a song about me, [and] it was really fun to have someone write a song ‘cause I’ve written so many songs about people. But then to have one written about you is pretty exciting.”

Shelton and Stefani have released multiple duets together, including the festive “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” to their heartfelt 2020 track, “Nobody But You,” and the record-setting “Purple Irises” from 2024. The duo have also recorded covers, like their rendition of the Judds’ “Love Is Alive.” As they continue to work with one another, we don’t doubt more of their musical influences will creep into the other’s style, and we can’t wait to find more tracks to add to our “favorite songs” list.
