Considering Stevie Nicks wrote an entire song about John Lennon (“Edge of Seventeen” for those unfamiliar), you’d likely wager that he was her favorite Beatle. Somehow, you’d be wrong. She actually favored another member of the legendary band more. Find out which Beatle was Nicks’ favorite, below.

Who Was Stevie Nicks’ Favorite Beatle?

According to Nicks, her favorite Beatle is George Harrison–if only because she knew him best. The pair spent much time together fostering a friendship amid the whirlwind of fame. In fact, their friendship meant so much to Nicks that she carried a photo of herself, Harrison, and restaurant owner Bob Longhi on tour.

“When I go on the road it goes right on my makeup mirror,” Nicks once said. “So before I go on stage, whether it’s with Fleetwood Mac or me in my solo career, the three of us are looking back at me, and that has been my inspiration every single night.”

“There’s lots of nights where you kind of go, I wish I didn’t have to go on stage tonight, I’m tired, I don’t feel like doing it, and I look at George Harrison and look at Longhi and look at me and I go: ‘Well, you just have to, because it’s important, it’s important to make people happy, so get out of your chair, put on your boots and go out there and do your thing,’” she continued.

Elsewhere she talked about specific incidents from their friendship that stuck in her mind. Harrison was a grounding force during Nicks’ rise to fame.

“I knew George quite well,” Nicks added. “We spent some time just hanging out, and not really writing, but like pretending, trying.”

“I got to spend like two days with a bunch of people, and him in Hawaii once,” she continued. “Also, when Rumours was coming out, I got to spend some time with him in Mexico, in Acapulco when there was a Warner Bros. convention. It was totally fun, we were standing by the pool, and George Harrison said, ‘They are coming for us, they are going to try to push us into that pool.’ He put his hand on my back, and said, ‘Absolutely, they’ll throw us in the pool so let’s get away from the pool.’”

Despite their friendship being cut short by Harrison’s death, their time together clearly meant a lot to Nicks and influenced her career greatly.
