More About the Who Believes in Angels? Album
As previously reported, John recorded Who Believes in Angels? over the course of 20 days in October 2023, following his much-celebrated performance at the Glastonbury Festival. The album features songs that Elton co-wrote with Brandi, producer Andrew Watt, and John’s longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin.
Who Believes in Angels? was recorded at Sunset Sound Studio in Los Angeles. Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, ex-Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, and former Who touring bassist Pino Palladino also contributed to the album.
The 10-track collection includes the previous released “Never Too Late,” which was nominated for a best original song Oscar in 2025.
In a trailer for the album, behind-the-scenes footage shot during the recording sessions show John’s initial frustration at his struggle to create music with which he was happy. Eventually, Elton found his groove, and he expressed how much he ended up loving the album.
“For me, it’s immaculate,” he declared. “This came out the way I wanted it to come out. This is one of the greatest musical experiences of my life.”
In addition to “Never Too Late,” two other songs from Who Believes in Angels? have been released in advance of the album—the title track and “Swing for the Fences.”
