Trisha Yearwood Celebrates “One of Those Surreal Moments” of Her Career

Since the 1980s, Trisha Yearwood rushed to carve her own path in country music with songs like “Walkaway Joe”, “She’s in Love with a Boy”, and “The Song Remembers When.” Besides releasing over a dozen studio albums, the singer also published a series of cookbooks while selling millions of records. And if that wasn’t enough, she also married country music star Garth Brooks. Holding several awards including three Grammys, Yearwood recently celebrated her career in the spotlight as she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Standing in front of the Capitol Records Building in Hollywood, California, Yearwood soaked in the moment as she became the latest celebrity to add their name to history. Thrilled about the milestone, the singer wasn’t alone as Brooks and even Reba McEntire were on hand for the celebration.

With Yearwood discussing his career and the excitement of gaining her star, she insisted, “I’m overwhelmed. It’s one of those surreal moments.” Brooks knew exactly how she felt in the moment as he received his star during the 1990s. Recounting his thoughts on the ceremony, she revealed, “As many accolades and awards as he has won, I never see him get more excited than he does when I receive something. And for all of the people who want this for me, nobody wants it more than you.”

Reba McEntire Recalls Meeting Trisha Yearwood For The First Time

Outside of Yearwood giving a speech, Reba also took the stage to praise her fellow country singer. Going back to the first time they met, she said it was during the ACM Awards. “I sat there with you and I thought, ‘I love her already because she’s with her mom.’ And your dry wit sense of humor won my heart.”

Having nurtured a friendship since that moment in the 1990s, Reba continued, “Our friendship throughout the years means the world to me because girls out on the road need a buddy.” And with both climbing the ranks of country music over the decades, the singer concluded, “We are in the country music business where girls stick together, we have fun together, we complain and gripe to each other because you can’t do that with anybody else. Nobody else understands.”
