Stevie Nicks has always been an intensely passionate individual. An intensely passionate individual who is dedicated to the art of music and the art of life. Despite only living for 27 years, Amy Winehouse is undoubtedly one of the most iconic vocalists of all time. Although, she was taken from this earth far too early after she died in 2011 from alcohol poisoning. Her battle with substances was long and hard, and many people tried to help her along the way. One of those people was Stevie Nicks, who divulged what she would say to Winehouse if she ever got the chance.

Stevie Nicks Was Brutally Honest With Winehouse

Since getting sober in 1998, Stevie Nicks has transparently divulged her struggles with substances, specifically, c—. Consequently, Nicks has acted as a spokesperson and tried doing so with Amy Winehouse. Matter of fact, Nicks spent no time sugarcoating the truth to Wineshouse, as she delivered her advice in a very blunt manner.

In 2008, three years before Winehouse passed, Nicks sat down with Q Magazine and stated the one piece of advice she would give Winehouse. For context, in 2008, Winehouse had won five Grammys but also received loads of public scrutiny due to her addiction. Regarding the latter, Nicks somewhat perpetuated that narrative. However, given Nicks’ history with addiction, it seemingly came from a place of care.

Nicks told the publication that Winehouse was “very talented” and, at the time, Winehouse had “the chance to have a great career.” However, Nicks put the narrative and perspective by stating, “I would say to her, ‘You won’t have it. You will become a miserable drug addict and you will die most likely, and the record company will drop you and go on to the next person waiting in the wings — and not doing c— — that wants to be a star.’”

Stevie Nicks’ advice directed towards Winehouse was very harsh. Though, the truth is never easy, and it seems Nicks knows that given that she struggled with a similar battler. Regardless, Nicks seemingly delivered these comments out of a place of concern, not judgment.
