One of the best feelings a person can enjoy is standing on the sidewalk on a sunny summer day and basking in the warmth of it all. The clear blue sky above is smiling down, there is a gentle breeze, and your skin stings with the sun’s rays. What a time to be alive! Could anything make this better? Well, we know one thing: classic rock songs.

Indeed, there are few things that can make a sunny summer day much better, but classic rock is at the top of the list. Here below, we wanted to offer three songs that will take your warm day up a level or two. These are three classic rock songs that will amplify the sunshine on your summer day.
“Walking On Sunshine” by Katrina And The Waves from ‘Walking On Sunshine’ (1983)
One of the most quintessentially 1980s songs, this track from the 1983 album of the same name has lasted throughout the years thanks to its effervescent energy and its catchy chorus about feeling as if the rays of the sun are emanating from your own two feet. Life may get hard, it may get dark, it may feel brutal and unfair… but then there’s music like this that can make you feel good again, get you on your feet and feeling as if you are part of the light, too.
And when you’re already feeling bright? Well, this is the kind of track that can only accentuate that good feeling!
“Here Comes The Sun” by Richie Havens (Single, 1971)
A cover of the famed George Harrison-penned Beatles song, Richie Havens’ acoustic-driven rendition has an almost backyard feel. While the Abbey Road version feels spiritual, meditative, and majestic, the Havens offering is more communal, more neighborly.
The clouds are parting, and you’re sipping wine in a mesh chair. And here comes Havens with his acoustic six-string and wood-grain voice, and he tells you about the ensuing light. It’s lovely.
“Island In The Sun” by Weezer from ‘Green Album’ (2001)
When you’re just leaving your home and you notice it’s beautiful and warm out and you’ve just thrown on your dark black sunglasses, put this track on in your headphones as you walk to the ballpark, the grocery store, the neighborhood watering hole, or wherever it is you’re going. It will turn your great day into bliss. With every “hip-hip!” you will step forward and feel as fine as a butterfly on a leaf. Enjoy the summer!
