For reference, Pinfield suffered from a stroke back in January that left him comatose for two months. The odds were not in his favor, as he developed pneumonia while incapacitated and had to be put on a ventilator to breathe. Through some sort of miracle, Pinfield came out of his comatose state in March and has been on the mend ever since.

The 63-year-old VJ took to Instagram yesterday to share an update on his recovery. Along with that update, Pinfield also revealed that he would be hosting the upcoming Walk of Fame ceremony for punk band Green Day in May. Clearly, he’s on the up-and-up, considering the ceremony is just a few days away.

“Slowly but surely recovering,” said Pinfield in the caption of the Instagram Post. “Lots of physical therapy […] Fighting my way back!! One day at a time.”

Matt Pinfield’s Recovery Is Something To Marvel At

Pinfield’s fans have been offering a ton of love in the comments of his recent Instagram post.

“We are rooting for you!!!” said one fan. “Sending much love!!”

“Epic to have you back,” said another. “Rest easy and full recovery!”

Back in March, shortly after coming out of the coma, Pinfield told The Hollywood Reporter that his doctors initially believed that he would not be able to walk or speak again. According to Pinfield, his daughter Jessica saved his life. His eldest daughter took on temporary guardianship of Pinfield’s medical and financial decisions while he was comatose.

“The doctors never expected me to speak or to walk again,” said Pinfield. “She’s [Pinfield’s daughter] the one who saved my life. She protected me.”

Pinfield also said that after waking from his coma, he was able to talk about music and quote lyrics with relative ease. That’s incredibly impressive, considering the bad state his doctors believed he would be in.

Here’s hoping that Pinfield makes a full recovery soon! Fans of the MTV VJ as well as Green Day can check out the livestream of the latter’s Walk of Fame induction ceremony on May 1 at 11:30 am PT.
