There are a lot of controversial issues in the entertainment business. Though one of the ones we see the most often is that of childhood fame. Regardless, there are several musicians to have undergone this career arc, and they have both benefited and been affected negatively by it. With all that in mind, here are three musicians to acquire international fandom before they turned 20 years old.
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber is and has been one of the biggest musicians on the planet ever since he released his hit single, “Baby,” in 2010. When Bieber released the single, he was just 15 years old, and thanks to the single’s success, he became one of the most popular musicians on the planet. As of now, Bieber still impressively holds that title.
Since releasing “Baby,” Justin Bieber has gone on to have a wildly successful career. Specifically, Bieber has garnered 8 No. 1 hits, two Grammy Awards, and a plethora of other notable accolades. Also, keep in mind that Bieber is only 31 years old, so he seemingly has a lot of gas left in the tank.
Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson dominated the pop music industry for a good part of the 20th century, and it all started when The Jackson 5 hit it big with their 1969 smash hit, “I Want You Back.” When the single was released, it peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Jackson was only 10 years old.
As a musician, Michael Jackson’s career is incomparable to anyone else’s. Frankly, Jackson’s legacy is so notable that we don’t even need to acknowledge his laundry list of accolades. Though, remember the foundation for his wildly successful career all started at the mere age of 10.
Britney Spears
Britney Spears’ career as a notable musician began after she released her hit single, “…Baby One More Time” in 1998. Following its release, the single peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped her debut album of the same name peak at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. When this all transpired, Britney Spears was 16 years old.
In light of all the success, Britney Spears became one of the most famous musicians of the 20th and 21st centuries. Matter of fact, Spears garnered more success before her 20th birthday, as she also scored another top 10 hit with “Oops!… I Did It Again” at just 18 years old.
