It’s a good Motörhead Day, to say the least. Fans of the band Motörhead are in for a treat this year, as an album once believed to have been lost is getting a formal release in June of 2025. The 1976 record, titled The Manticore Tapes, features the famous lineup of Lemmy Kilmister, Phil “Philthy Anial” Taylor, and Fast Eddie Clark. Sadly, none of the three rock icons are alive to see this release finally make it to shelves.

The announcement of the upcoming release notes that the album was originally recorded in August of 1976 in Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s famous Manticore Studio in Fulham, England.
“While they were there, they recorded together for the very first time and now, forty-nine years later, this long-lost tape has surfaced, been dusted off and restored in all its raw glory, to celebrate the seminal hard rock band’s 50th anniversary,” the press release stated.

A deluxe version of the posthumous album will contain an additional disc that features the band’s legendary 1977 live set in Birmingham, in addition to an unreleased 7-inch that will feature live performances.
