Watch Riley Green Perform “In Color” With United States Marine at Windy City Smokeout Festival

Promoting a lineup that included Koe Wetzel, Megan Moroney, Kane Brown, Jon Pardi, Ella Langley, and Riley Green, the Windy City Smokeout festival was the place to be for any fan of country music. Combining great music with great food, the festival ran from July 10th to the 13th and featured more than a few memorable moments. One of those moments happened when Green decided to cover Jamey Johnson’s hit song “In Color.” Having performed the song in the past, the country singer decided he needed a little help when he welcomed First Lieutenant Jackson Perkins to the stage.

A member of the United States Marine Corps, Perkins knew how to handle pressure. So, it should come as no surprise that the Marine felt right at home when he walked out in front of thousands of screaming fans. Sharing a short video of the performance, Green spent a few moments with Perkins behind the stage, going over the plan. But when Perkins stepped up to the mic, he completely stole the show.

Riley Green Always Finding Ways To Honor The Armed Forces

As the two performed “In Color”, Green eventually stepped away from the mic to allow Perkins the chance to prove his singing abilities. And while a member of the armed forces, if Perkins ever decided to retire, he could easily explore a career in country music, as the fans loved his performance.

Looking at the comments, fans wrote, “It was an honor to see you perform together, First Lieutenant Perkins. Your voice truly adds something special to the moment.” Another person added, “This is SO American of Riley Green.”

Having praised the military in the past, Green went far beyond just celebrating the armed forces. Knowing the sacrifices they make, the country star took part in the Folds of Honor Rock ‘N Jock Celebrity Softball Game. And besides showcasing his athletic abilities on the field, he donated $75,000 to Folds of Honor.

Adding his donation to the total sum, the event raised over $670,000 to help support families of fallen soldiers and disabled veterans.
