Country Star Gets Nailed by a Beer Can Mid-Festival Performance, Takes the “High Road”

Koe Wetzel didn’t let a flying beer can stop him from performing. While the country singer was on stage at FairWell Festival in Redmond, Oregon, a rowdy audience member threw a beer at him.

The moment happened while Wetzel was performing his and Jessie Murph’s 2024 track, “High Road.”

Wetzel was singing and playing guitar when a beer can—that still had liquid inside—was thrown from the crowd.

The can hit Wetzel’s hand as he was strumming his guitar, but the singer didn’t miss a beat or a chord. He simply kept performing, aptly singing about taking the high road.

Koe Wetzel’s Big Year

The moment came one week after Koe Wetzel gave fans an update on his music career.

“There’s been a lot of life happening lately, just wanted to check in and let yall know I’ve been in the studio writing a bunch of new music,” he wrote on Instagram. “Really excited and look forward to sharing something with yall soon!”

Wetzel’s fans were excited when, shortly after that post, the singer announced that his new song, “Surrounded,” will be released July 25.

He revealed the news by sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the track. The video featured footage of Wetzel, along with his band and collaborators, in the studio.

Shortly thereafter, he shared the cover art for the song, along with a new photo of himself.

It’s been a while since Wetzel has put out new music. His latest LP, 9 Lives, came out in July 2024. A few months later, he and Murph released “High Road.” Wetzel released a live album, Live from the Damn Near Normal Tour, in February.

Since then, Koe Wetzel has been busy on the road. He opened up for Morgan Wallen on his I’m the Problem Tour in June. Since then, Wetzel has been supporting Hardy on his Jim Bob World Tour, which is slated to run through September.
