Melanie Davis

Melanie Davis

Melanie A. Davis is a musician, writer, and radio technician based in western Kentucky. While attending Murray State University for music business with a vocal performance emphasis, she began performing original jazz-folk across the eastern half of the United States and working at her local NPR affiliate, 91.3 WKMS, as a late-night alternative show host and ops assistant.

Davis started writing for a myriad of online publications in 2020 before joining American Songwriter in 2024, where she’s delighted to put her love of 20th-century music and penchant for wordsmithing to good use. Her musical interests are varied but lean toward the oldies: Davis’ bread and butter lies somewhere amidst the artistic golden years between 1950 and 1980.

When she’s not performing, writing, broadcasting, or touring, Davis enjoys fostering her local music scene, spending time with her husband, family, and three cats (Toaster, Luna, and Linda), and adding to her growing American traditional tattoo collection.
