Country Icon Tim McGraw Backs Out of Colorado Concert as He Recovers From Surgery

With Colorado State University teaming up with the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) for the Last Cowboy Standing Event, the organizers called on none other than Tim McGraw to perform at Canvas Stadium. While the country star recently made his return to the stage after undergoing several surgeries, it appeared he might have needed some extra time to recover. Although fans were excited to see him perform next month, McGraw canceled the concert to focus on his recovery.

Scheduled to take place on July 21st, the news of McGraw backing out caused concern amongst fans. In a recent interview with Audacy’s Katie Neal, the singer explained needing two knee surgeries, a neck surgery, and a back surgery. “It’s been a rough go, but you know, I beat myself up over the years pretty badly.”

McGraw even revealed how his body broke down during a recent tour. “During the tour, the back started going cattywampus on me and in about 3 weeks in the tour, my knees went out, so I had to do the whole tour with my knee shot, my back shot, so right after I had double knee replacements. So both knees. And that was the worst, having to lay there for 6, 8 weeks and not do much.”

Who Will Replace Tim McGraw At Canvas Stadium?

While McGraw backed out of the event, organizers called on Cross Canadian Ragweed to fill in. Posting the news on Instagram, the message read, “Cross Canadian Ragweed will step in for Tim McGraw as he recovers from back surgery to open the Last Cowboy Standing Show on July 21st in Fort Collins.”

Excited about the new lineup, the CEO of PBR, Sean Gleason, said, “We couldn’t be more pumped that the band is back together and have agreed to open the Last Cowboy Standing event in Fort Collins. It’s going to be an epic night of great music and the greatest bull riding on earth.”

As for fans, those who might not want to watch Cross Canadian Ragweed, organizers offered them a full refund by calling the Rams Ticket Office or filling out a request

Outside of McGraw’s ongoing health struggles, the country singer is set to perform at the Bristol Motor Speedway on August 2nd and the legendary Field of Dreams on August 30th. But again, with McGraw focusing on his health, it’s unknown if he will keep those dates.
