Darius Rucker has led an interesting life. Between his solo career and his time in Hootie and the Blowfish, he became one of the biggest stars in the United States. With that under his belt, it seems that the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter is off to conquer new lands. Rucker announced that he has relocated to England in a series of recent social media posts.

Rucker started sharing his English adventures with his fans and followers last Tuesday (January 21). He posted a pair of photos. The first showed him walking his Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and the second was a snapshot of the London skyline. “So Freddie, Larry, and I are doing a thing. Any guesses?” he wrote in the post.

A week later, on January 28, Rucker gave his fans and followers another hint as to what the “thing” he and his adorable pooches had done. “Had a great time in London at the Novello Theatre watching Mamma Mia!” Rucker wrote in the caption of a photo of him wearing a long brown overcoat in front of the theatre.
Finally, yesterday (January 29), Rucker announced his big move along with some new shows. “I can’t move to London and not play UK shows,” he wrote in the post. He then urged fans to get tickets to his forthcoming shows and announced that he would offer limited VIP packages for his first string of dates in his new home country.
Rucker’s first UK show will take place on March 13 in London. He will join Wyatt Flores, Mickey Guyton, Jessi Alexander, and Tucker Wetmore during the CMA Songwriters Series at this year’s C2C: Country to Country Festival.
Darius Rucker Still Has Deep Roots in the United States
Darius Rucker might have moved to London but he still has deep roots here in the States. More specifically, he has deep roots in Charleston, South Carolina. He was raised there and many of his family members still live in the area. Additionally, his annual Riverfront Revival festival takes place in Charleston.
Last year, Rucker spoke to CHS Today about the festival and why he loves playing in his hometown. “Playing at home is always great,” he said. “I get to see my family, all my sisters and brothers, my nieces and nephews, and cousins all come out and it’s just great,” he added. “To have grown up there, still live there, and to have had the career I’ve had—now to be back, bringing something to Charleston and being part of it just feels awesome.”
