The song, titled “Hollywood Victim,” is a brooding mid-tempo rock tune that tells the cautionary tale of a young woman drawn into the seedy side of Tinseltown after seeking to make it in the entertainment business there. The track is available now via streaming services.

According to a press release, “Hollywood Victim” serves “as a modern companion” to the classic Eagles song “Hotel California,” which Felder co-wrote with Don Henley and Glenn Frey.

The song originally was written in the early 1990s for the Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over tour. The track is highlighted by Felder’s incendiary guitar lines.

“Hollywood Victim” also features contributions from several other noteworthy musicians. They include veteran rock drummer Brian Tichy, lauded backing singer Ms. Monet Owens, and several current and former members of Toto—keyboardists David Paich and Phillinganes, singer Joe Williams, bassist Nathan East, and percussionist Lenny Castro.

More About The Vault – Fifty Years of Music

The Vault – Fifty Years of Music is Felder’s fourth solo studio album, and his first since he released American Rock ‘n’ Roll in 2019. The new record is a 10-track collection that features nine new versions of previously unreleased songs Felder wrote and recorded as demos over the course of five decades.

The Vault also includes an updated version of Felder’s only charting solo single, “Heavy Metal.” That song originally appeared on the soundtrack for the 1981 animated sci-fi film of the same name. It peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The album features songs as old as “Move On,” which dates back to 1974, and as recent as “I Like the Things You Do,” which was written in 2023.

The first advance single from The Vault was a tune called “Free at Last.” The melodic, ’80s-influenced rock song features a pulsating beat and some tastefully soaring guitar riffing from Felder.

Besides the aforementioned musicians featured on “Hollywood Victim,” The Vault also includes contributions from two other respected drummers—Todd Sucherman of Styx and Greg Bissonette of Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band.
