Country ballads have this special ability to just soothe the soul. When it comes to the following country ballads from 1969, specifically, many a baby boomer out there probably still remembers them. Theyโre just that gorgeous.
โStatue Of A Foolโ by Jack Greene from โStatue Of A Foolโ
Unsurprisingly, Jack Greene makes it to this list with one of his finest ballads. Written by Jan Crutchfield, โStatue Of A Foolโ is a heartbreaker with that classic late-60s country sound. Considering Greeneโs version made it to the top of the Hot Country Songs chart, you probably remember it. Itโs also been covered by quite a few musicians in the years since, from Brian Collins to Bill Medley to Ricky Van Shelton.

โI Love You More Todayโ by Conway Twitty from โI Love You More Todayโ
Conway Twitty knew his way around a traditional, somber country ballad. And โI Love You More Todayโ is one such excellent ballad. This hit song from the album of the same name was written by L. E. White and dropped in April 1969. โI Love You More Todayโ soared up the charts to No. 1 in the US and No. 2 in Canada.
โSinging My Songโ by Tammy Wynette from โTammyโs Greatest Hitsโ
Tammy Wynetteโs finest songs were the ones she wrote herself. And this co-written effort between her, Billy Sherrill, and Glenn Sutton is a gorgeous example. โSinging My Songโ was released in March 1969 and came close to becoming a crossover hit for the country crooner. The track topped the Hot Country Songs chart and the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart, and made it to No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100.
โAll I Have To Offer You (Is Me)โ by Charley Pride from โThe Best Of Charley Prideโ
Many a baby boomer out there would agree that Charley Pride had some solid ballads, including this country classic from 1969. โAll I Have To Offer You (Is Me)โ was actually first recorded by Johnny Bush the year prior, but Prideโs version of the tune became a smash hit when it dropped in 1969. His version topped the Hot Country Songs chart and inched its way onto the Hot 100, though it wasnโt a Top 40 hit there. If youโve ever been in love and felt like you didnโt have much to offer the object of your affection, this song might just resonate with you.
