Chris Adler was one of the founding members of Lamb of God. Then, 20 years later, he learned that his services were “no longer needed” in the band. He has spent the last few years overcoming physical issues that led to his dismissal from the band and is prepared to start the second chapter of his career with his new band, Firstborne. Their debut album dropped in 2023. Later this year, they’ll release their sophomore record.

With the release of Lucky right around the corner, Adler sat down with Blabbermouth to talk about the new album, Firstborne, and how he is starting the second chapter of his career.
Chris Adler on His Renewed Perspective
Those who haven’t heard Firstborne might assume that it sounds like Chris Adler’s former band, Lamb of God. However, that’s not the case. While the band is still heavy and Adler’s signature snare sound is still present, the two bands couldn’t be much different.
“I had to be very introspective and decide where I wanted to go from there and what chapter two was going to be,” Adler said about his new project. “Fortunately, I was in touch with these guys, and that’s a whole story in itself. We decided that it’s what we do and who we are. It doesn’t necessarily define us or me anymore. It’s something I care about doing, and it’s a great creative outlet for me,” he added.
Firstborne self-released their debut album, Gods of Fire. Their next album, Lucky, will be their first official studio album. Adler revealed what the future may look like for their band.
“As far as the pace is concerned, it’s only what we want to do. There are some touring offers coming up, and we’re considering them, but we all sat down and talked,” Adler said. “Not that it would be considered entirely part-time, but Myrone (guitar) and his wife just had a beautiful baby. Girish [Pradhan] (vocals) is in India. With the current administration’s approach to visas, getting people here and there is probably a nightmare,” he explained.
“I’m remarried and we have three teenagers,” Adler said of his personal life. “It’s a whole world that, in many ways, during those several decades of my running around the world, I missed out on a lot,” he added.
