MusiCares is usually held to honor the contributions of a specific band, in addition to their activism efforts. The event will both honor the Grateful Dead and serve as a fundraiser for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. If you can’t make it to the concert, you can also donate to the organization’s wildfire fundraiser here.

If you’re a fan of Grateful Dead, you’ll definitely want to check out this year’s MusiCares concert. Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir and drummer Mickey Hart will be performing. Just as well, a huge star-studded lineup in rock music will be performing, too.

The lineup for the 2025 MusiCares benefit concert will feature the musical stylings of John Mayer, Billy Strings, Vampire Weekend, The War On Drugs, Bruce Hornsby, and My Morning Jacket.

Additional musicians that will hit the stage in Los Angeles include Mick Fleetwood, Stewart Copeland, Maren Morris, Noah Kahan, Lukas Nelson, Sammy Hagar, Dwight Yoakam, The War And Treaty, and more.

The Grateful Dead was also recently recognized by the Kennedy Center Honors in 2024. Past MusiCares Persons of the Year have included the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Jon Bon Jovi, and more.

Grateful Dead first formed in 1965. The band is best known for their extremely eclectic style of music, which has spanned 13 studio albums. They’ve experimented with genres like blues, jazz, country, gospel, and even reggae. Grateful Dead is often considered a cornerstone band in the psychedelic rock movement of the late 1960s. They are also known for their enormously dedicated fanbase, known as “Deadheads”. The band was initially formed by the late Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, the late Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and the late Ron “Pigpen” McKernan.

The MusiCares benefit concert is slated to kick off on Friday, January 31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. Andy Cohen, a well-known megafan of Grateful Dead, will host/MC the event. You can get your tickets via MusiCares’ website.
