Grey winter skies
The sun disappears like it never existed
I close my eyes
And pretend that the pain is just here for a visit
Maybe it’s because of my own dumb mistakes
Or maybe I’m just standing here, running in place
As I try hard to fake it and hide my surprise
That your promises failed right before my eyes
When it all falls down
And the world spins around
The ground rushes up to meet me where I stand
And I’m down on my face in the gravel again
So I close my eyes
And I whisper Your name
The only way to stand is to fall on my face
I was crawling through mud, now I’m reaching, reaching for Grace
Cold as a stone
I’m numb like a body on a mortician’s table
Feel so alone
It’s funny how I’m standing in the middle of a crowd
I’m walking away and I keep looking back
Regretting what I’ve gained and all that I lack
I keep catching glimpses of a future that’s bright
So I cry out, wishing I could make it all right
When it all falls down
