For starters, the wait is officially over as American Idol returns tonight with season 23. Kicking off at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, the show welcomed back former judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. And no season of American Idol would be complete without host Ryan Seacrest. With a new batch of contestants, Underwood looked to give them more than feedback but a glimpse into what can happen when winning the competition.
After winning American Idol season 4, Underwood went on to record hit songs like “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Before He Cheats.” Holding Grammy awards and selling over 85 million albums, she solidified herself as a top name in country music. She released her latest album, Denim & Rhinestones, back in 2022 which included a tour.
Carrie Underwood Focused On Helping Singers On ‘American Idol’
Discussing her return to American Idol, Underwood looked forward to being on the other side of the competition. “It’s really cool to be on the other side of things. To get to play music and sing is wonderful, and we get to help somebody, or many other people hopefully, achieve that.”
Even the President of Disney Television Group, Craig Erwich, was excited about Underwood being a judge. “This is a full-circle moment both for the show and for audiences at home who have been tuning in for over two decades. Welcome home Carrie.”
Sure to be a memorable moment in American Idol history, don’t miss the season premiere airing tonight on ABC. For those who might not have cable, don’t worry – new episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu.
