Jay-Z Accuser Drops Assault Lawsuit, Rapper Responds

Recently, an anonymous individual launched a civil lawsuit against rapper and producer Jay-Z, claiming he assaulted a young girl when she was a 13-year-old child. As of Friday, February 14, it looks like the individual who launched the suit has voluntarily dismissed it.

The lawsuit was originally filed by one Jane Doe against Sean “Diddy” Combs in late 2024. The suit was later changed in December to include Jay-Z in the documents. The anonymous accuser named both producers as the two men who had assaulted her at an afterparty that followed the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

Following the launch of the suit, the victim also admitted that there were inconsistencies in her statement.

“Today is a victory,” Jay-Z said in a statement following the dismissal of the suit. “The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

Jay-Z also went on to put the alleged victim’s lawyer, Jay Buzbee, on blast. The producer took a jab at Buzbee in his statement following the case’s dismissal.

“This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions,” Jay-Z continued. “The system has failed. The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

Jay-Z’s Case is Dismissed, but Diddy is Still in Hot Water

While the above-mentioned individual has dismissed her suit against Diddy and Jay-Z, Diddy is far from in the clear. The producer and musician is still being held without bail as he waits for his trial in federal court in New York, which is slated for May 5, 2025.

Diddy faces a laundry list of charges from multiple individuals and the state of New York, ranging from kidnapping to arson to sex trafficking to obstruction of justice.
