“I knew this song was special the day that I wrote it with Frank Legeay and Erika Raen,” Lamb tells American Songwriter. “Being in that time between moving on from a breakup and trying to start dating again is such a weird place to be, and I feel really honored to have been able to be a part of writing a song that so beautifully expressed that.”

Honest and heartfelt, the song heart-achingly asks the biggest question: What do I do in this in between time?

“I think we can all relate to that weird feeling of just not knowing what to do with yourself during that time,” she continues. “This is one of those songs that I am so happy that I got to be a writer on. I’m just so glad I was in the room that day.”

Appearing on Lamb’s upcoming EP, Happy Hour Sad, “In Between Time” joins the previously released tracks “Heartbreak Away,” “Miss Me Don’t,” and “Too Much History.” The five-track release is set to drop on May 5.

“This song is the second to last song on this EP,” she details, saying the upcoming record is going to “close out a chapter of heartbreak that I’ve been writing for close to five years now.”

“Now, that doesn’t mean that I am not writing sad girl songs anymore… because I can’t stop doing that,” she assures. “It’s who I am and what I love to write about and what I most connect with. But, you are going to see this EP close out the heartbreak journey that I’ve been working through and expressing, hoping that at least one person can hear it and feel less alone.”
