Lainey Wilson Hits a New (And Fitting) Career Milestone the Same Week She Got Engaged

While growing up listening to Buck Owens and Glen Campbell, Lainey Wilson eventually found herself on top of country music. With the genre going through some historic changes over the last few years, singers like Wilson, Jelly Roll, and Morgan Wallen are proving that country music is cool once again. Although some can complain that country music was always cool, there is no denying the impact Wilson had on the genre with albums like Bell Bottom Country and Whirlwind. And recently, Wilson not only watched her life change in an instant but she also landed No. 1 thanks to “4X4XU.”

For any fan of Wilson, they know the last week has been a whirlwind for the singer. She revealed just a few days ago that her boyfriend, Duck Hodges, asked her to marry him. Posting pictures and a video on social media, Wilson was all smiles as she displayed her engagement ring. And even with the cold weather, nothing stopped her from celebrating the moment as she captioned her post, writing, “4X4XU forever.”

Now, just days after her engagement announcement, Wilson gained her 8th career No. 1 song on the Mediabase country chart. Written by the singer, Wilson also teamed up with Jon Decious and Arron Raitiere to bring the song about finding a home no matter the location.

Lainey Wilson Discusses Inspiration Behind “4X4XU”

When promoting her new album Whirlwind, Wilson discussed the hit song with Vanity Fair. She even revealed she wrote the song in less than 30 minutes. “I’m very proud of that song, and we actually wrote that song in 30 minutes, which is crazy for me because I don’t write songs in 30 minutes. Normally it takes me six hours, and then we might come back to it again the next day. But that one just fell out of the sky, and it just felt right and it flowed.”

With Wilson drawing inspiration from her past, the country singer admitted, “It’s about keeping your people close and the ones that remind you who you are and what you stand for, and remind you to stick to your guns and stay true to yourself. Those things make me feel at home.”

And besides finding a home in country music, it seemed that Wilson has also found her forever home with Hodges.
