Just a few days ago, Tennessee watched as thousands of people poured into Nashville for the CMA Fest. Besides featuring days of country singers and hit songs, the state wasn’t finished celebrating music as the Bonnaroo Music Festival kicked off on Thursday night. Already promoting singers like Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, Nelly, Megadeth, Insane Clown Posse, Queens of the Stone Age, and several others, there seemed to be something for every fan. And to celebrate the first night, the festival welcomed Luke Combs to the stage. Not wanting to take the stage for himself, Combs decided to surprise fans with a special performance featuring Miranda Lambert.

Back in June 2022, Combs released his third studio album with Grown’ Up. The album produced singles “The Kind of Love We Make” and “Going, Going, Gone.” The album earned high praise from fans and was also nominated for the Best Country Album at the Grammy Awards. But among the 12 songs that made up the album, there was only one collaboration. And that was with Lambert on “Outrunnin’ Your Memory.”
While the song hit the airwaves and streaming platforms three years ago, Combs and Lambert reunited on the Bonnaroo stage to treat fans to a killer performance. With the band in rare form and thousands of fans screaming, the two singers set the standard for the rest of the festival.
Luke Combs Looking To Take A Break From The Road
Although loving his time on the stage with Lambert, Combs recently announced he was taking a break from touring. Having spent years trying to gain his footing in the industry, he believed it was time to take a short break to spend time with his growing family.
While posting a collage of pictures on Instagram, the country singer took a moment to thank fans for their continued support and helping his dream come true. “I want to take a moment to remind y’all that I truly believe y’all are the best fans in the world. I know we’re only doing festivals in the US this year, but I thank y’all for giving me the opportunity to change things up and not do my own tour while still knowing how much y’all mean to me.”
With Combs only performing at festivals, he insisted it all had to do with his boys. “I just want to be home as much as I can, where I can see my boys grow up and them know how important they are to me.”
In a position to take some time off, fans who attended the opening night of Bonnaroo witnessed one of the few performances from Combs in 2025.
