Luke Combs Teased an Unreleased Song and Proved that 2025 Is Going to Be Another Great Year for Country Music

Luke Combs helped country music fans bring in the New Year with a bang with a killer performance of “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” during Nashville’s Big Bash. However, that wasn’t his only contribution to New Year’s Eve. Combs also shared a snippet of an unreleased song on social media, signaling that he’ll drop new tunes in the coming months.

Combs has some great love songs and his discography and it looks like he’s ready to add another to the list. Yesterday (December 31), hours before he took the stage during the NYE celebration, the “Hurricane” singer shared a worktape of a new track called “More Less Than Perfect.” In the caption, he asked his fans, “Who should I duet this with?”

While he didn’t list the song’s writing credits, “More Less Than Perfect” is firmly in Combs’ wheelhouse as a songwriter and performer. Lyrically, it is about a guy who is a little rough around the edges and feels he doesn’t deserve the love of the woman he’s with. Just because I’m broken, it don’t mean I’m worthless. / The heart you let me hold, I know I don’t deserve it. / You can run away and save yourself some hurtin’ / But you keep lovin’ me when I couldn’t be / More less than perfect, he sings in what appears to be the song’s chorus.

The demo he shared only features his voice backed by a piano, which sounds great. At the same time, it’s a different direction for the country superstar. However, it will likely sound much different when he records the official studio version.

Luke Combs Had a Big Year in 2024

Luke Combs has had a series of big years since stepping into the country music world with This One’s for You in 2017. 2024 was different, though. He had a hit song, appeared on F-1 Trillion, and received multiple award nominations. The accolades are par for the course for Combs who is one of the genre’s biggest stars. However, he was able to show his heart a little more last year. First, he released Fathers & Sons, a concept album about fatherhood that had dads around the world in tears with nearly every song. Later in the year, he teamed up with Eric Church, Billy Strings, and James Taylor to raise more than $24 million for hurricane relief in North Carolina.

Combs is going into 2025 with plenty of momentum to make it another banner year.
