For roughly the last year, Waylon Jennings fans have been anticipating the potential release of some unearthed music after Shooter Jennings made an epic and cryptic announcement. Specifically, Shooter divulged that they had obtained some deep-cut and unreleased Waylon Jennings’ music.

Shooter wrote on Instagram last June, “I’m in possession of a treasure trove of previously unheard full band Waylon Jennings multi-track recording from the 70’s and early 80’s and I have begun preparing the material to be mixed.” He continued, “These are not demos. These are not unfinished, but, they will take some time to explore, prepare, and mix. You’ve got something to look forward to – there will be new, classic Waylon Jennings music in 2025. Stay tuned.”
Since that post, Shooter Jennings has been fairly silent on the matter. Though that is no longer the case, as Shooter again took Instagram to announce that some unreleased Waylon Jennings “stuff” will be released sometime in the near future.
Shooter Jennings Builds up the Anticipation About Waylon Jennings’ Material
In a recent Instagram post, Shooter Jennings stated, “Hey y’all, it’s Shooter. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all the wonderful Waylon fans for keeping his memory alive all these years. Singing his songs, playing his songs, listening to his music. I gotta say, you guys are the best fan base in the world, the love that comes in daily means the world to me and my family.”
“And I wanted to let you know that I’m going to be posting on social media now a little here and there on the Waylon pages some personal memories, some messages, getting you guys ready for some really cool Waylon stuff that’s coming up,” he concluded.
Obviously, Shooter Jennings left out a lot of details about the project. However, the most important aspect of that post is clearly the acknowledgment that there is, in fact, some Waylon Jennings “stuff” in the works. There is no telling what Shooter will release, and when he will release it. No matter what it is, it will surely be worth the wait.
