Taylor Swift Just Combined Two of Her Most Devastating Songs Ever, and I’m Still Crying

Taylor Swift has given fans plenty of reasons to cry this year. In April, she released The Tortured Poets Department, finally giving insight into last year’s split with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn and short-lived fling with 1975 frontman Matty Healy. Additionally, her unprecedented Eras Tour is winding down after 21 record-breaking months. With only three shows remaining, the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer is clearly holding back nothing.

Watch Taylor Swift Bring 49,000 Fans to Tears With This Mashup

Last year, Taylor Swift dropped “You’re Losing Me” as a thank-you to fans after she was named Spotify’s top-streamed artist of 2023. The Midnights deep cut rivals “All Too Well” as the most heartbreaking song Swift has ever penned. With lyrics like My face was gray, but you wouldn’t admit that we were sick, fans believe “You’re Losing Me” is about the end of her six-and-a-half-year romance with Joe Alwyn.

During Saturday’s (Nov. 23) acoustic mashup set at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Swift combined “You’re Losing Me” with “How Did It End?” The latter, off TTPD’s extended Anthology version, also employs physical sickness as a metaphor for a fading relationship: Our maladies were such we could not cure them.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner concluded the tragic mashup by combining lyrics from both tracks: “You’re losing me, how did it end?”

One X/Twitter user declared the set “hauntingly poetic,” jokingly wondering, “Who’s cutting onions in this graveyard?”

A great question that I, personally, would like the answer to.

The Eras Tour Is Coming to a Close

Millions of people on five different continents have laughed, cried, and screamed their lungs out since Taylor Swift launched the “Eras” Tour in March 2023. Now, the end is near as she gears up for her final three-show run in Vancouver.

The “Cruel Summer” hitmaker couldn’t hold back the tears as she thanked the crowd during Saturday’s (Nov. 23) show in Toronto.
