“How Full Circle”: Megan Moroney Releasing New Song With Kenny Chesney
Taking to social media Wednesday morning (April 30), Megan Moroney shared an artists’ rendering of herself standing side by side with Kenny Chesney onstage. The picture announces the pair’s new song, “You Had to Be There,” out May 9.
“The moment we’ve ALL been waiting for,” commented one ecstatic fan on Instagram.
The “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem” hitmaker, 57, also weighed in. “As far as I know this is the first song anyone has written for me,” Chesney wrote. “Thank you Megan. I love ya.”
Another fan called the collab “actually the greatest thing that’s ever happened to music.”
In the post, the “No Caller ID” songstress, 27, marked the full-circle moment by sharing a digital ticket to Chesney’s 2018 show in Atlanta.
Seeing the duo release an original song is hardly surprising, as they teamed up multiple times for songs like Moroney’s “Am I Okay?” and Chesney’s “When the Sun Goes Down” during last summer’s tour. Both artists have also frequently and publicly sung one another’s praises. With their masterful songwriting skills combined, it’s hard to imagine “You Had to Be There” not becoming a major hit.
Kenny Chesney Is Now on TikTok—With a Little Help From His Friend
Ahead of his Las Vegas Sphere residency next month, Kenny Chesney recently joined TikTok with some help from Megan Moroney.
“Hey guys,” Moroney says in the video posted April 25. “I want to introduce y’all to my friend, Kenny Chesney.”
However, the future Country Music Hall of Famer needs a little more convincing. “Kenny, come on,” Moroney coaxes. “It’ll be good.”
Finally, the “You Had Me From Hello” hitmaker appears in the frame.
On May 22, Chesney will become the first country artist to ever headline a residency at the Sphere, with 15 shows scheduled for May and June.
