The Song That Made Elton John Love the Beatles
Try to see it my way
Do I have to keep on talking till I can’t go on?
While you see it your way
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone
John first remembers hearing “Love Me Do.” The simple song caught his attention, but didn’t fully impress him. It wasn’t until he heard “We Can Work It Out” that John fully fell in love with the fab four.
“‘We Can Work It Out’ is such a wonderful song. Stevie Wonder did an amazing version of it,” John once said. “I can’t even begin to think of how many people covered Beatles songs. There is so much I could have chosen.”
Think of what you’re saying
You can get it wrong and still you think that it’s alright
Think of what I’m saying
We can work it out and get it straight or say good night
We have to agree with John on “We Can Work It Out.” This McCartney-led song has an infectious melody. Though not one of their biggest hits, it is one of their most impressively arranged songs. We can see how John’s head could be turned by listening to it. Revisit this track, below.
Life is very short and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it’s a crime
So I will ask you once again
That’s not the only bit of praise John has thrown the Beatles’ way.
“They revolutionized the way things were recorded, even though it was with quite simple equipment, they experimented, and they wrote fantastic songs,” John also said of the Beatles.
Try to see it my way
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong
While you see it your way
There’s a chance that we might fall apart before too long
Life is very short and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it’s a crime
So I will ask you once again
