Southern rock band The Steel Woods is giving fans another preview of their upcoming fourth studio album. Today (September 1), the gritty Nashville-based group shared “The Man from Everywhere,” which contemplates the consequences of a freewheeling lifestyle.

“It’s a song loosely based on the story of Uncle Lloyd as a prequel to the Darrell Scott song we cut on our first record,” frontman Wes Bayliss says in a statement. “It’s written from the perspective of a man who just can’t seem to get things right, hinting that his drinking and gambling addictions are the reason he’s abandoned every good thing he’s ever had going for him. When Connie [Harrington] and I were writing this one, I started really getting excited about the record and realizing this crazy idea I had could actually be great.”
“The Man from Everywhere” is the third single off their upcoming record On Your Time, set for release on October 6. It marks the first full-length project from the band created after the passing of their co-founding member and accomplished guitarist Jason “Rowdy” Cope, who died in 2021 at the age of 42.

Cope’s unexpected passing inspired the band to keep moving forward creatively, expanding their edgy sound even further with On Your Time, which they say “serves as a tribute to the vision and legacy” of their late friend and bandmate.
You can catch The Steel Woods out on the road in support of On Your Time through the end of 2023. Their extensive headlining tour, featuring support from Zach Top and Them Dirty Roses, includes stops in New Orleans, Dallas, Kansas City, and Tucson.
